Marquette keeps one commit, loses another - Recruiting class drops from 20th to 49th

Shaka Smart was officially introduced today as the 18th coach in Marquette history. He received some excellent news early, but a setback later in the day. DJ Carton, the transfer from Ohio State who had long ties with Coach Wojo seemed to imply he is ready to go under Coach Smart. Kameron Jones, part of the top 20 recruiting class Wojo landed for this year also tweeted he was on board. However, late this afternoon Jonas Aidoo, the seven foot center ranked 80th in the country announced he was decommitting. Aidoo's departure dropped Marquette's recruiting class ranking from 20th to 49th.

No news yet from Stevie Mitchell, rated as the 86th best player high school player in the nation by 247. Current players Dawson Garcia, Justin Lewis and others have also not made their intentions known yet.

With 1000 players in the transfer portal and players originally committed to Texas changing their minds, this will remain a fluid situation.
